I just purchased and installed and calibrated my new 2016 Apex. I calibrated the salinity probe with a 53.333 fluid that comes with the controller. I checked the salinity of the test solution from Apex with my refract and it's coming up at 42 PPT, not 35 like I was expecting.
Am I Wrong using that Apex solution to recalibrate a refract?

The probe used to measure salinity on the apex is a conductivity probe. it reads differently than your refractometer.

Correct so, am I right in saying I should not have used 53.333 fluid for my refract as it was not designed for it?

Correct, do not use it to calibrate your refractometer

something is wrong with the way you calibrate would be my guess. Also what setting, conductivity range, are you using for the salinity probe? I have seen the value changes due to temperature swing but this is too much of a difference. I use mine just see if extreme changes happen and do not pay much attention to the accuracy of it. :-)

Did you get the solution to temperature? You have to have th 53 ppt to tank to to set it up.
