Hey guys,

I bit the bullet and dropped $900 on a starter pack from Apex.

What is a good way to put it to use right away?
What are you must have accessories?

Above video is great for initial setup. Other accessories depend on what gear you have, and what you are looking to accomplish. What kind of tank do you have? Lights, power heads ect?

The DOS accessory is amazing for dosing Calcium and alk, as well as do an Automatic Water Change.... Also the Apex ATK (Auto Top Off) Is a must have....

Well I already have all my equipment so I’m gonna slowly upgrade.
Running a Red Sea Max e-170 with a tigger cube sump, reef octopus 110N, chiller, evo doser 4 channel (for AK and Ca), Heater, fuge light, eflux
Full equipment list in the pics below.
I wanted to get an Apex in anticipation of those titration automatic tester that is coming out this year.

How does the automatic water change work?
I currently have an optic ATO, how is he Apex one different?

The apex uses optics as well, the way its different is it will automatically stop topping up, take out x amount of water, replace it with x salt water, resume top up when needed.

Remember, top up water is just water, water change is salt water.

Doing an Automatic Salt Water change is one of the best things you can do for your aquarium.

I set my Apex Dos to pull out 2 gallons per day and put back in the same fresh salt water. I use a Solenoid Valve and a series of Apex Optical Sensors to control when water is needed to be made. When my low sensor opens or goes dry, the Dos shuts off and Solenoid valve opens and fills the mixing station with RODI water. When the top sensor closes and gets wet the valve closes. I get alarm time to scope salt in... My mixing station is 50 gallons so I do this every 3 weeks or so...

As far as Apex ATK, it's a no brainer to invest in that, it has sensors and an emergency float if it goes higher. All integrated into your Fusion...

hmmm, I only change 5 gallons per week so dont think all the setup is worth it. Maybe when I get a bigger tank!
