Hey guys,

We are about to spin up a new tank after a near 2 year hiatus from shutting down our first mixed reef tank after getting a new job and moving, my previous build picture is below.

The goal is to do a SPS only tank, but I have read that coral only tanks tend to be an issue due to lack of nutrients and other various things. Since I have endured the adventure of a SPS only tank I am wanting insight on my first steps to make sure the tank is completely ready for coral when I do indeed add them as well as a bright colorful future with what I place in my tank.

Questions:

1. Sand or no sand ?
2. If SPS only, should I consider a dosing device ?
3. Is a high functioning expensive skimmer a huge necessity in a SPS only tank ?
4. Lighting on XR30 scheduled, ramping up and down recommendations (this will go in tandem with what SPS I choose I'm sure)
---
Any advice is helpful !

The goal is beautiful !

Equipment for Nano SPS Tank
---

Tank

I picked up on a steal deal a Fluval M-60 tank complete with the stand, other accessories originally sold with this package.
Skimmer
I currently have the fluval skimmer that came with the m-60, I am considering replacing the skimmer with a Auqa Gadget Skim Mate Ghost Desktop Protein Skimmer if it doesn't perform (so far it seems fine, although somewhat loud).
Lighting
Radion XR30 Gen 1 with TIR Lenses upgrade (RMS kit)
Water Filtration
Mikro Omega Portable 3 Stage 100GPD membrane
---

I am consider purchasing a AUQA Gadget MiniMax All-In-One Media Reactor to place in the back over flow section of the tank as well, but not sure what media I should put in, recommendations ?
