I have been in the hobby off and on since the late 90s. I had a period of moving around a lot and couldn't have aquariums.

Been kicking around the idea of building my own tank. This is not my dream tank....more of a test tank to see if I could do it.

Last year I bought the lumber to make the stand and the acrylic for the tank. Had the free time and motivation to work on it. Got the stand built and then the tank built, but it stalled at that point. Life got busy and it was set on the back burner.

More to come.....

I got the tank built. Measures 40"x30"x24". I didn't want a skinny tank. I had the traditional 75g and hated how narrow it was front to back.

At this point of the build I was ready for a leak test and see if my welds hold. After 48 hours there was no leaks.

Edit: video would not upload

Well, recently my little nano reef is getting crowded with coral growth and I need to get the bigger tank up and going.

I got one of those Fuji cube baffle kits and bought a 29g to use as a sump. Put that thing together last week

Next, I drilled a couple holes for a Prodigy L overflow that I picked up and got that thing mounted.

Today I plumbed the tank minus the return. Still need to get a 3/4" hole bit to drill for the return.

Here is where I stand on the build. I do jave rock cooking in the brute.

Plans for the future....

Going get star board for side and front of the stand to make it look nicer. They hang in place to take off easily for maintenance. They have a magnet on the base to keep tight to the bottom.

Still trying to figure out if I am going to hang lights or make a canopy.

Small moves... Got the tank out in the yard and water test the plumbing. Small leak at bulk head. A little tightening and all good. Got it back inside and fill her up with salt.

Next step is getting some more live rock and some chromis. The journey continues...

Build looks great and congrats!

You may want to consider clamping your pvc to the stand just below your unions with some of these. If you bump one of those drains, you could easily crack the acrylic at your bulkhead. Just a precaution and YMMV.

Yeah was looking into something like that. Thanks for the suggestion
