New clownfish acclimating to QT

I got this new clownfish and i only have 1 quaratine tank that previously had copper in it i drained it all out and cleaned it and stuff cuprisorb in filter but my hanna checker still reads 0.12 copper in tank can i still acclimate him and put it in there will 0.12 kill him?

If you have any dry rock, sand, etc... in the QT, it will absorb the copper and slowly release it over time. If you have a completely cleaned out, empty QT that you emptied and cleaned after the last use (and no sponges, etc... in your filter) and still getting a 0.12 copper reading, then their may be an issue with your Hanna reagents or testing technique.

But, 0.12 copper isn't going to kill your Clown while he is in quarantine. Besides, you are going to probably be raising the copper levels eventually in quarantine anyhow, right? Some people start with 1.0ppm Chelated copper anyhow when they add their fish to quarantine.

Thank you so much for your reply Its a barebottom tank with just pvc pipes im trying to get rid of the copper to 0.00 while he in quaratine just to observe first i been running the cuprisorb for 4 days so that sounds normal for it take a while to remove at low concentrations right? Just wanted to know if he will die or anything as the copper going away during the two week period it takes to fully remove the copper

You have nothing to fear, he will not die while you remove the copper levels. Clowns are really resilient.

I typically remove my copper through complete water changes during my quarantine process. I don't use the Cuprisorb filters.
