New coral

My Oregon tort and another piece colided months ago. Fragged the tort and noticed this. It is now growing on top of the tort.

It's so little! That sort of happens sometimes when I frag zoas, little pieces will float through the tank and land on a rock and start a new colony :)

This was one of those tube worms that grows with the acro covering it. I watched the OT cover the other coral. The other actually was kinda killing OT. But they kinda just kept growing. That piece grew out of those. Didn't just float and attach itself to the Oregon tort. Its basically an Oregon tort and whatever the other acro is grafted.

A small amount of that coral must have survived the OT overgrowing it and it grew back. To graft, corals need to be the exact same type and even then its difficult to do. I also have not heard of any tyoe of acropra grafting with another, correct me if I am wrong and its been done. I dont even want to think of how much a WD/HW cost, a Walt Wrecker $2000 per polyp!

And of coarse I just found this https://reefbuilders.com/2017/09/05...is-acros-are-the-real-limited-edition-corals/ proving me wrong. And now the Walt Wrecker will become a reality....and I will need to sell a kidney or mortgage my house to get a frag.

Hard to get a good pick cause of where they are placed.

I let a lot of my corals grow into each other. This time a baby was born.

Mods please close this thread. Not really interested in proving anything. In person its clearly different. The piece coming out is glowing green. I don't know what's so hard to believe? Either way.

This article really exadurates the “chimera” happening. Just because the coral was grown from scratch in their lab does not mean it’s any different than a normal aquarium graft, unless I am missing something. Acting like aquarium grafts are the only real le corals is misleading as well. But I get the point. Just seems to set the table for people to start raising prices on grafted pieces.

I don’t think anyone is asking you to prove anything, am I wrong? It’s difficult to appreciate what you’re seeing because the pictures are so blue, so how can anyone see that acro for what it’s supposed to be?

This site is full of know it alls.

I see things for what they are. a couple of earlier post are obviously doubting that this is a product of 2 acros mending.

I'm not a scientific person and don't claim to be the smartest. But I do have 2 eyes that are very good. And I am pretty in tune with my tank. I am just posting what is very visible to me.

Not trying to make a bunch of money or start grafting, just simply trying to share my findings. Just thought it was cool.
