I wonder if there is an issue with sound with all that flow. I know some people complain about the mp40 but I don't have a problem with it.

When I had two of them a while back, one of them was dead silent and the other had a hum/vibration to it. That was also when I was running my MRC MR-2 which was noisy. Now with my tank very quiet, I am sure they would have been more noticiable.

This makes me think that they will probably have some noticable noise at the higher rpms. But if you need that kind of flow and a small footprint, what are your options? I would think if you need that kind of flow a closed loop would be much more ideal at a fraction of the cost.

up front it might be a lower cost but running a hammerhead or similar pump that can push that much water your looking at triple the wattage use which will run your power bill up...also more heat introduced which may cause you to have cooling costs as well.. the mp60 would pay for it's self in a short time if you look at that way.....anything pushing 5500gph at 60watts is freaking insane!!!!!!!!!

I'm with troylee - I'm kicking around shutting down my closed loop (Dart) and going with two MP40s and two MP60s (already have one MP40).

My dart alone pulls ~170w, and the oceans motion on top of it pulls some wattage too. Couple that along with the heat savings on no Dart and no OM 4way, and I'm betting I'd see a return pretty quickly (yrs likely, but that is fine).

I like the look of the dryside as well. Looks like they opened it up to reduce any heating problems.

I can't wait to hear the product reviews when they come out. I personally could not justify the cost at this point. I would much rather just use my Koralias, but that is me. I personally was not that impressed with the MP40s I had. I also did not have the new ecosmart drivers either, so personally I do not know how big of a difference that makes.

Mine always stahl. I am sick of calling them. The only one that i never have problems with is my mp10 on my nano. They are very good to deal with on the phone. I will give them that.
