Hey everyone!
I recently added some new inhabitants to my 197 litre 4 ft reef tank and I wanted to see what you guys would think and also had a question about one specific fish. The new fish I have are a pair of banggai cardinalfish and a yellow coris wrasse as well as a tuxedo urchin to help with hair algae.
For the yellow coris wrasse, my tank doesn’t have a lid on it anymore but has a small bracing around the top that usually holds the lids. Will this be fine because I heard they’re jumpers? I can’t afford a new custom lid right now and none would fit my tank anyway because it’s an aqua one horizon 182. I have a mate with a mixed reef tank and he’s been in the hobby for quite a while and knows a lot. He told me that it would be fine because although they’re said to jump it’s not usually for fun and only if they’re being chased but he also has kept them in open top tanks with no issues and they were in there for years and nothing happened. Is this a situation similar to when people say betta fish are jumpers even though they don’t jump often or very high? I’ve kept a betta in open tops easy with the water level also close to the top and no issues.
If you read through all that you’re a legend haha thanks so much in advance.
