Ordered some new clownfish for my tank. They were labeled as WYSIWYG Frostbite grade A clownfish pair. I just opened the box and put them in the tank. They look very different than the picture. I emailed who I got them from already and just waiting for a response to see how it’s handled. I mean these are nice beautiful fish, but to me look no where close to the listed pictures. Am I crazy?

For sure not the same fish. Funny, there was a thread yesterday asking the exact same question about WYSIWYG clowns. Out of curiosity, what vendor were these ordered from?
The exact same one… beautiful fish. Just not a fan of the business practice.

On another note. Do Frostbite clowns change that drastically over time? My black ices I had only changed from orange to darker black as they aged over a couple years. I feel like spots changing within a year would be drastic. But maybe I’m crazy.

To my knowledge, clown patterns do not change. Color may get darker or lighter (Usually light -> dark), but pattern itself doesn't change.
I’ll be sure to keep a good eye on them as they grow. I’m just happy to have a reef back up again. If you all want come check out my new tank thread. It’s a rebirth of my old Nuvo 20 I had a few years ago! I look forward to documenting its progress!

Those definitely are different. Even pattern around face is different. Never heard of clownfish changing patterns. WYSIWYG means exactly that. It's like selling a car but has a different paint job when they deliver. It is not wysiwyg And would ask for a discount at the least. If the color morphs changed then they need to update the pics as well.
I agree with you. I’m not looking for money really. But stuff like this you get my money 1 time. Caveat Emptor.

I spoke with another person who had this exact thing happened to them as well. Exact same generic email response. At minimum we agree they know what they are doing. These fish’s spots and patterns don't change this drastically. Even if they did how can you justify having a wysiwyg picture that could be looked at as “outdated”. Unethical practices to get more money out of people.

Definitely a different pair of clowns . Same response from vendor . Terrible way to do business. Name and shame .
Here is the site. It’s from George. @coralfish12g It’s disappointing to say the least. If it’s one thing you should never want to dishonor it’s your name and reputation. I doubt he’s the one actually doing the shipping. So I wonder if he even knows this is going down like this.

Above is my reply today to them. I’ll keep everyone posted on how they decide to handle this. At this point I’m aggravated on principle. My money is earned through hard work and honesty. Why should I have to pay someone who’s blatantly being dishonest with multiple customers.

They must think you fell off a turnip trunk. Like sure they had those fish for MANY MONTHS and they didn't grow?
For real. It’s honestly just disappointing. I’ve been in the hobby since the early 2000’s and watched his videos from when he first started. I hope for his sake it’s someone else doing it behind the scenes and he’s not in on it.

I'd be really upset. I bet you paid a premium and more importantly, I bet you searched all over for the perfect clownfish and to get different, lower quality ones just kinda sucks.
When I was hunting for my pair I searched the internet for months to find just the right ones
I did exactly that. It’s sad that they feel this is right too. They are trying to make it sound like I won’t even like the fish. It’s not that. I’ll take care of these guys either way. I’m just upset they were not honest with me at all. If they truly changed due to water quality why would you use old pictures to sell them. Did they think people will just over look this. I’m the second person this week to deal with this from them.

Jeez, IMO they would have been better off saying they must have accidentally switched them with that other customer's fishes. But heaven forbid they accept some blame. Deny at all costs has unfortunately become too prevalent lately.

Personally, I like the orange on the pectoral fins better, but the lesser number of spots on the body would have me seriously considering a chargeback.
To not even offer anything and accept any responsibility is wild to me. Are they that desperate for money?
