New fish. Should I be upset?

Everyone saying they like the ones you got better, I'm going to be the contrarian here.

The fish they showed have rows of dots that go from behind the gill all the way across. The fish you received don't. I am not personally a huge fan of the designer clowns, but if I paid that kind of money for those specific fish, I would be very upset.
I 100% agree. I love all my fish but when you are specifically picking something out and they don’t follow through honestly that’s upsetting.

What do you think they're doing? I mean logistically. That's what I haven't figured out yet!

Do they actually have the clowns in the picture but are shipping different ones? Did they Photoshop the pictures to make them look better than they are and deceive their customers?

How are they doing this
They said they morphed because of a possible water issue. But still left the original picture in the wysiwyg. They should be flat out embarrassed.

to those who are saying it's ok..

This is like buying a banana or holy grail torch and getting a blue tip torch.
A glitter bomb goni and getting a green goni.
A care bears and getting a basic pink goni.
That list can surely go on!

This is the second time in less than 1 week. People need to know. Avoid this company.
Thank you. I appreciate it. What’s sad though is they have so many clownfish that do need homes. I don’t mind paying good money for something special. But be honest. Greed at its finest.

Actually, you should be. Same fish or not, you are acting like you got taken for something of lesser quality — all because you chose fish from an online photo. You got the same species, same basic color and markings, and size, healthy fish that arrived alive. You want to argue the semantics of WYSIWYG based on a photo. I looked at the photos, there is not a definitive answer either way.

I am not defending the vendor they may be dirtbags or may not be, but these daily posts (based on photos) are getting ridiculous and to me, amount to nothing more than leveraging silly public outrage to force discounts.

Save the outage for the real scams where you get shafted with truly unhealthy specimens, etc. It serves us all better.

You want to truly see what you are buying, go buy it live. Be it a fish, a coral, a house, a car or a pair of underwear. Otherwise set your expectations according and take some personal responsibility for taking a gamble on a photo.
I appreciate what you’re saying. I’m by no means looking for something for free or discounted. It’s clear that I’m not the only one who encountered this issue this week. It’s more along the lines of letting the buyer beware. If you’re going to do business and charge an inflated price for a wysiwyg you should send what was agreed upon. If not you should expect to be called out. I took a gamble like you said and lost out. Unfortunate but it is what it is. But maybe this post makes someone else think twice before they select purchase. If I saw a thread that warned me I would have thought twice.

You didn’t take a gamble. You bought the fish in the picture as advertised. You paid for their markings off of a listing for What You See Is What You Get. Nothing more. Nothing less. You clearly got less. You didn’t get what was pictured.

You still got beautiful fish. But not as beautiful as what was listed.

You got scammed. Plain and simple. Zero dispute.
It’s okay really. I’m not going to lose sleep over this. I’m going to enjoy the fish I have with my family. I hope this conversation can just help others.

So what would be irrefutable proof in your eyes? The fish in the other thread have entirely different bar patterns and one was orange when advertised to be black.

And if you didn’t actually closely examine the photos, why are you saying there isn’t irrefutable proof? It’s great that the number of spots doesn’t matter to you, but it does to the person who paid money to get the fish advertised in the photo.

Even if a customer does their best due diligence, there is still a level of trust put on the vendor, which was clearly broken here.
Thank you. This is spot on. We may just be waiting for him to put his glasses on.

Turns out I wasn’t crazy. Look what’s back available for purchase again.
