New frag, what is this? Baby heads or hitchhiker?

Just got this frogspawn at RAP. First frogspawn for me. Are these baby heads coming out or some kind of hitchhiker? They are coming out of the calcareous base of the stem of the coral, not the fleshy part, which leads me towards hitch hiker. I assume the babies come from the fleshy part, but this is my first frogspawn so I have no idea. Help please and thank you!

Kinda hard to tell but almost looks like vermetid snails, however almost looks too much like a pattern growth

Good idea I will try today.

It's strange it's almost an equally spaced spiral pattern heading up the base.

New heads form when the old ones split into two so it’s not baby heads. Don’t know what it is tho.
