new goldfish aquarium

Hey, I hope here is someone who has goldfishes. My friend gave me a tank with goldfish, but there is nothing except fishes, and for me, it's too empty. I want to buy some plants, but I've never had goldfishes and don't know what will be suitable/ I'd appreciate if someone will give me a few recommendations.
Yesterday I was in a store but didn't receive the answer. I think that the seller is not skilled enough.

Goldfish love to dig and they love to eat plants. Not exactly a good combination when you want to keep them with plants. Heres a few that will withstand them:

- Moss tied to rocks or driftwood
- Java fern (tied to rock or driftwood)
- Anubias (tied to rock or driftwood)
- Marimo balls
- Echinodorus (use plant weights till they root themselves)
- Bucephalandra (tied to rock or driftwood)
- Vallisneria (use plant weights till they root themselves)

Here's my setup:


They'll outgrow that setup but should be good for a bit.

I know they’re not supposed to eat hornwort but my pond goldfish weren’t told that and once they got a taste for it absolutely decimated the hornwort in my pond. It’s gone from lush and green to absolutely nothing left over a matter of a few weeks. Pond looks very bare now :(

For a short time when they're babies, yes. When full grown you'll need at least a 40 gallon.

Thanks! My husband and I have bought a Tetra 20 gallons for them and it seems that this tank suits them very well. But as you said, in the near future, we have to buy for them a big one.
