Hey ya’ll,

I’m new to keeping Goniopora/alveopora
And want to make sure I’m doing the best I can do for these corals.. I have 2 goni’s and 2 alveopora right now and 3/4 are always extended looking happy during the day. However one of them doesn’t really fully extend? Should I be worried or is it maybe just slower to acclimate to my tank, it’s been in here for maybe 4 days now so still very new. It’s polyps didn’t come out at all the first day, but the second day they partially came out, enough to show the polyps but don’t reach out very far at all.. attached photo below next to another Goni.

Howdy.

In my experience with gonioporas, they are on the pickier side to keep.
Keep them at medium flow and med lighting.
And i have great success with adding manganese trace element.

But please do your own research before getting into dosing.

Good luck and happy reefing

I currently dose tropic Marin’s All for reef which contains trace but I’m sure eventually I’ll need to dose additional manganese from what I’ve read.. picked up a 3 pack of ICP tests so I plan to do the first one in a month or so.. then stagger the rest so I can get an idea for what trace elements I need to dose. Flow in that area I believe is good it’s random and not too strong. Waves the polyps of the others around at various intensity, par in that spot is about 120-130
