My one and only complaint about the Gyre (I have been running the XF150 on my 4' 120 gal since November) has been the noise in pulse mode. It wasn't crazy loud, but my sump is in my basement, so my take is pretty quiet in the dinning room.
I ordered the new magnet mount and it arrived today. I can say, unequivocally that this thing is **** near silent now. At 80% in pulse mode, I have to put my ear to the glass to be able to hear it.
Well done Maxspect, you fixed the one flaw with this thing. Now we just needed an upgraded controller.
Additionally, I have noticed that if the flow seems diminished, a quick cleaning with a tooth brush under hot water does the trick. So not only is the thing quieter, but I had to turn it down 20% from where it was.
Now I just need the QD controller for my MP 10, as it is easily the loudest thing on my tank.
