I've been looking for a new heater for my tank but don't know which one is the best or most reliable. Been using a Fluval heater but I feel it might be failing and need something a little better. The tank is a 72 gallon bowfront with no sump. Looking for something that lasts and won't stay stuck on a high temp.

So I would need two heaters? Also, does the inkbird tell u the temp of the tank?

Agree. 2 100w Eheim Jagers controlled with an Inkbird would be reliable. You "can" use them without a temp controller, but that just adds another layer of protection. The Eheims are German made and ultra reliable by themselves, and they're always available on Amazon for really not much at all.

Yes I'd run 2 for redundancy. If 1 should stop working at least your tank won't get too cold. If you get an Inkbird with wifi capability it'll send you a temp alert as well. Yep the Inkbird has a temp display.

Yes ink bird tells you the temp of the tank and you can monitor the temp from your phone. You do not need 2 heaters but can if you choose so. The ink bird allows 2 heaters. I’ve been using Eheim Jaggers for years great heater

Where can I get the heaters and inkbird at a good price? So are two heaters the best way to go? I've always used one but have heard of people using two in case one fails. And won't two heat the water more??

Use 2 smaller ones instead of 1 large one. Amazon.

I may have to backstep a bit, looks like Amazon is a week or so out from delivery on the intermediate wattage Eheim heaters, it is January after all, lol. The 300w is the only one available quickly but I feel that's too large for the OPs tank. Another option is Eheim Thermocontrol heater, available in my area in 2 days, but are a bit more money.

Fwiw I always have a spare heater on hand.

Is the inkbird with wifi reliable or should I just get the regular one?

Inkbirds ARE hobby grade controllers, so not entirely bulletproof. I think there's enough of them in use to be considered reliable though.

A Ranco temp controller is another option that's common. They are commercial grade but no wifi, no tenth of a degree resolution, may require some internal wiring on your part, and you must shrink wrap the sensor to protect it from saltwater. If I had to choose just 1, I prefer a Ranco controller because it's a commercial grade piece of equipment, but they're not for everyone and an Inkbird is plug and play for less money.

I have friends that like Finnex heaters and have had great luck with them, but I have not personally used one. I still prefer Eheims.
