So these are my latest Maxima Clams. Both are between 5-6"
My question is the Maxima 2, seems to be open less frequently as Maxima 1.

Maxima 1
Maxima 1 is almost ALWAYS open and out unless I do the light trick or something touches it.
Maxima 2 if something bothers it will stay in for long periods of time. Sometimes i think she is unhappy... I have a nice rock under each of them in the Sand.
My Crocea is smaller about 3-4 inches, and is firmly attached to a rock on the sand, but you can tell it is mainly on the rock with little to no sand touching it.
In these pics above you can see how fully extended they are.

In these you can see how Maxima 2 is sometimes half in, other times it is much more retracted than that.
Maxima 1 you can see more open than Maxima2.
Crocea is next to Maxima 1.

I've determined the clam that is closed more often loves to open fully under white lights.... under the blues it retracts more. Then if anything touches it like a shrimp or snail it closes and will stay retracted for some time...
