New project.

So I have a new project in the works. Last week I added two female lyartail anthias to my tank that has had one male. I hope for a spawn in the comming months. The females seem a little under weight but feeding will solve that problem.

Tank
30 gallon sps reef with an xr 30 pro gen 4. Set to 10 hours a day.abou t 10 lbs of rock, no sand.

Tankmates
Geometric hawkish
Abnormally calm 6 line wrasse
Pair of neon goby
Royal gramma
Lawnmower blenny

Filtration
Reef octopus regal 150s skimmer and filter sock. A large marine pure brick in thw Fuge section of the sump.

Feeding
I'm feeding 4 to 5 times a day with mysis shrimp, spirulina brine shrimp, LRS fertility frenzy, fish eggs, and TDO med.

Anthias are definitely interesting fish to breed and lyretails readily spawn in captivity if the tank is large and tall enough. My closest local stores back in Germany had a sizable group of lyretails in a 4000 liter tank and they spawned every evening. Too bad the owner decided to add a baby panther grouper to that tank. As the grouper grew the Anthias dwindled away... and the store owner wondered why - I guess drinking and reefing doesn't go well together.

Btw, I wonder if anyone ever got Ventralis Anthias to spawn in captivity...

I know that Pseudanthias squamipinnis was recently bred in France.
