I just purchased a refill for a red sea pro alk test. They have changed the color of the solution & this requires a new color card. I however didn't get the card with the kit. The LFS owner says Red sea will gladly send me a card. I hope this is true. Anybody else have this problem? Thanks !

I understand this new kit goes from blue to a green end point. If YA get yellow You have gone too far. The LFS guy had a picture on his phone sent to him by red sea rep but I can't find it on the redsea site.?? Ok I'm t not that good at guessing!

If you have a pH meter, you can figure out the exact color yourself. The solution will hit pH about pH 4.2 at the endpoint. That is all the color is telling you anyway. :)

I usually wait until the blue just turns lime green.

Thanks Oakie ! That helps a lot ! I certainly will let You know if they come thru with a card. I fail to understand why this left the factory with out the cards !

also thanks to cm !

Ok just did side by's with the new & old kits. new kit I "think" I got a 7.6 too low
old kit I got 7.3 7.4 way too low
I just have to get used to this new kit is all.

So I got a response from Red Sea. They will send me a card. Let's see if I actually get one.

I just purchased Red Sea Alk test and mine is still the old colors. Didn't realize over dosing was an issue. Interesting

Kind of the reason I went to a different test kit for my ALK

I use my RS Alk test to spot check my Hanna. They are usually pretty close.
I do the same with the Aquaforest. I found that the Hanna, ELOS, and Aquaforest were the closest to each other.

I loved my old kit with the darker colors this new one is hard to see the change. I will also try to get a card and ask if there is a way to darken them.

Ya I'm not getting the same results between the old & new kit ! I do them side by side they differ too much. Could be my eye also.

I find holding a white index card behind the tube makes it easier for me to detect the color change.

agreed ! If I could just see where the new kit agrees with the old. it's yellow before it even gets close.

When I compared the new reagent vs the old they agreed, but I had new bottles of each. I emailed red sea about no card with new color, blah blah. They sent me a new bottle of the "old" reagent to compare kits
