Hi everyone, just received the notice on the new Red Sea G3 series. I just got a Red Sea 525XL G2+ a month ago... trying to understand the differences. Seems like only the Euro brace (which is a big deal!) and "Hydrodynamic Piping". No idea what hydrodynamic piping is, but on my G2+ it seems to have the newer gate valve, the dual outlet returns, and the square intake with larger center overflow.

I know I already have the new ATO, reefmat ready sump, upgraded plywood cabinet with aluminum center support, and thicker 19mm glass. Too bad this came out so soon after my tank was shipped out to me... LOL

Some info on youtube. It sounds like there are fewer 90-degree angles in the return pipes to improve flow and reduce energy consumption. This may not matter if you run wave makers in the DT, and run return on lowest setting like I do.

Something that is intriguing is the new gate valve. My G2+ isn't even close to silent. I get it dialed in for a few days, and then suddenly it's noisy again and I have to fiddle with the valve. Definitely the Euro bracing seems desirable when you read all the stories of failures.

For what it's worth, I'm on my 3rd red sea tank and I haven't had issues with them other than getting the down flow dialed in. I'm pretty happy otherwise.

Interesting, I had a 2021 version Red Sea 525XL that had the valve issue so I swapped to a Spears Gate valve... but with this recent 525XL G2+ the new valve has not been an issue for almost 2 months now.

The best upgrade IMO is the ability to run dual return pumps on the 350 and larger.

Here is my Take on RS Tanks. Sorry but I gotta be honest. The G2 was RS admitting they had issues with the G1 without publicly admitting which would induce LIABILITY and force them to warranty a faulty product. The G3 just continues that Tradition of AVOIDING LIABILITY to the CONSUMER with the continued seam failure issues on the G2 the G1 had. They never fixed the problem, why would you assume they fixed it now? Would you keep buying a Chevy if the Drivers door fell off on 2 separate models?

There are at least 6 better Tanks than Red Sea I can name off top of my Head.

Aqueon for that matter don't have seam issues.
