Hi all, just ordered my first Reef tank, expecting delivery in the next few days. Very excited!
I’ve been doing a lot of research over the past few months and although there are clearly many different opinions on every aspect of reef keeping I’m hoping that just absorbing as much knowledge as possible will help in eliminating some of the major hurdles with setting up a new tank 🤞! I have previously kept fresh water fish but bar some maintenance I’m not sure that’s going to be of a huge benefit.
I’m based in Suffolk, UK and was wondering if there’s a local community here? I’ve seen some other posts with links to local communities but unfortunately the links have been broken. I’ll have a scroll around to see if I can find them!
I’ve seen lots of comments about documenting your reef setup so I’ll try and figure out how to do that too! Thanks for having me!

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

Welcome! What tank did you order? Definitely share pictures of your set up as you make progress. I love seeing new folks getting into the hobby. Feel free to ask as many questions as you have here. I'm not familiar with your local reefing scene, but I do know there are lots of knowledgeable/experienced folks on your side of the pond. So, I'm sure you'll end up finding lots of resources locally too.
Best of luck!

Hey thanks! I’ll be sure to share as I go! Just been looking at your new setup!! Holy moly lol. That’s some system! Very jealous 😂. Looks like it’s going to be incredible. And the work you’ve done is top notch, your woodworking skills are outstanding, let alone everything else.
I went with the AquaOne ReefSys 434 (approx 110 USgal) it fits my space well and I liked the design. I know there’s debate about good first size tanks but I’m hoping it will be a touch forgiving to a newbie and with the expense I wanted something that will last me a good few years without the instant craving to upgrade within a couple of years. Time will tell!
