New rose bubble tip

So I was at a coral event yesterday, and got a frogspawn, hammer, and a new bubble tip. The frogspawn and hammer are doing great, but the BTA decided to move the night of getting it. So I woke up the next day to it wedged into a deep cave, one that my yellowtail damsel usually sleeps in. Just making sure this is normal behavior for a BTA. Also tank size is 14 gallons just in case it matters.

The way those zoas are reaching makes me think there may not be enough light for a nem. They will move around until they find a spot they like.

That’s at the bottom of the rocks, and the other zoas near it aren’t reaching at all, it’s just that one. And my point is I put it outside of the cave, but it crawled in last night. It’s just weird it would want little to no light at all, because the cave is completely covered

PS: I've had them attach deep in rocks then stretch out to get light.

To @exnisstech ’s points, nems are just plain weird in their behavior. One of my first was out in front on the bottom for something like a month when I got him. I thought I was one of the lucky ones to have a nem settle right away. I thought he’d move up to more light but nope, he moved behind the rocks where I could barely see him for months. Then suddenly he appeared again and took his final spot midway up the rock work. The point is that when you get them it is not uncommon for them to go into temporary hiding while they are acclimating and perhaps even stressed from the new environment. Just keep an eye on it. It should come out and go looking for the light and flow or wants and needs.

I’m also upgrading to a 55 gallon at some point hopefully before Christmas, so I’m hoping it at least comes out before then. It will be HELL getting it out of that cave to move it if it doesn’t

another on from my nem tank , it being under the rock is fine , I would think it could be there for up to 3 days. After 3 days I would start to worry about parameters/light if it doesn’t seek it

My parameters should be alright, but alkalinity is a bit low, only around 6.9, I was actually about to dose. Nitrate and phosphates may be a bit high too, but also working on that rn. And I mainly do softies and lps so I’m not heavily worried about nutrients being too high

Nems like higher nutrients in my experience so that is good , alkalinity doesn’t matter so much only that it is consistent

Yeah I just added that frogspawn and hammer, before that only non-softie I had was a favia, which was doing well since I got it, so all is very stable around 7-8, but it might get a tiny bit less consistent after adding those two LPS

The tank had a seam failure so I moved it to a new tank.

Then it decided to go behind the rocks and wrapped itself around the heater. I decided to stop keeping nems after that. The heater was my bad but enough is enough.


@willygwak2 I forgot to mention you should cover any poweheads until it settles in to spot.

That tank is beautiful. Also the only power head I have it a return pump, but it doesn’t have any blades or anything. It’s the return pump for the biocube 14
