I have both. I have had two Reef octopus skimmers going for 8+ years. Been happy with them but feel like I have to replace the pumps more often than I should (on 3rd of 4th pump on my largest one). I have a Nyos 120 on my Red Sea 170 and have liked it (6 months into it). It is very quiet (but also a lot smaller than my Reef Octos). The build quality on the Nyos is a bit higher but have not seen it perform better than the Reef Octopus. On the Reef Octopus skimmers I run Avast Marine swabbies and external skimmate storage so I don't touch them but every few months.

I was looking at the nyos because of its smaller size but was unsure of being smaller would have a negative effect on the performance

What pumps are your reef octopus skimmers running? I've read they are rated for around 10years under normal usage?

I have the 150 elite int and love how quite it is. Keep in mind i don’t have a tank at the moment so have only run it a sump to make sure it works. And have owned many classic used octos in the past. And they all perform well.
with that said I am not a fan of the pumps that come on the classic models. I prefer the bubble blaster pumps and various pumps.

I would be happy with another Nyos. Next time one of my pumps go out will likely change skimmers and they are high on my list to look at again...

Never had a Nyos but have 3 reef octopus of various sizes on different systems and rarely had an issue. They are all 6+ years old with an average age of about 7 years. Changed one pump and 2 impellers in total in that time.

Nyos 120 on reefer 170, smaller size doesn’t impact performance. Had a Nyos 160 on a 75, also worked great, quiet.

I've found a reef octopus elite 200 int
Does anyone own one ? I need to know how tall it is when the collection cup is removed? Or obviously how tall the collection cup is on its own

23.2” the nice thing about the elite is it is a twist lock cup so it comes off easy you may only need another 1/2 inch to get it off. Sorry I have the 150 so can’t give you size of cup

Thanks that's the total height with the cup attached? I need to know how tall it is without the cup.
My sump is an odd design and have to remove the collection cup to access parts of the filtration

What sort of price would be reasonable for a used elite 200 int ( pump outside)
