New spa frags are white

So I just received 10 new spa frags from very reputable seller. There are two frags that have lost their color and are pretty much a white color but the pulips still have color and are out. Does this happen often. I have never experienced this before.

Sometimes they will look pale in the bags but once you put them in the tank you can see they have color and aren’t as bad as you thought. Can you post pics?

white means death- dull color is ok to some extent

So I retested water. so I think its because my phosphates were .25 on salifert test kit. Did big water change and changed gfo. They are still showing pulips and pulip color. We shall see what happens.

Could be any number of things. It could have been too close to a heat/ice pack, to far from it, not quite healed enough before shipped, so on. I would put it under lower light, 100-200 par, and leave it. I have had this issue with some sticks I have been shipped. About 70% success rate bringing them back. It may take 1-2 months for them to get some color back and longer (5 months minimum) to look ideal. My preferred method of checking progress is to use something like fritz glasses to view them under actinics. The glasses will still look white to the eye, but the glasses will exaggerate the color and show the recovery. Most brown or orange lense glasses will have a similar effect.

As others have said, I do like to send a picture to the vendor to let them know how it arrived in the event it turns quickly. As for does this happen often, in my experience there is about a 10-15% chance of them arriving brown or white, granted most of my shipments of sps have been during winter with temps slightly above freezing.

Your po4 being different probably doesn’t have much to do with it. Shipping stress is probably all it was. What pieces were they that pales? Some corals don’t ship well in general.

So did a 30 gallon water change this morning. Phosphates down to .01. Changed my gfo last night. Not sure how long it’s been in there. Can’t remember when I changed it last. Here are some pics

If you don't know your par, I would move that rack to the side of the tank instead of front and center to reduce the lighting.
