New sponsored threads in our marketplace forums!!

You guys do realize that this isn't a new thing, right? It's been this way for over 2 years.

Is there a way to opt out of these ‘reality check’ posts?

We realize some may not want to see sponsor sales in the general selling forums which is why we give people a way to opt out (I'm not sure why you would make a statement like the above when there is a way to opt out). If you believe that is not working correctly for some reason, reach out to a staff member and we'll help get it fixed.

If you have a concern about moderation, please reach out to our staff via PM per our terms of service.

This is completely valid, and frankly I didn't see the age of the original post - so that is my mistake and I apologize (I think @rtparty's comment about bumping old threads is valid). I do still think that allowing sponsors to promote sales in the community sales zone is a questionable decision given the amount of real estate sponsors have, but evidently the system is working.

Are you shopping in the live goods sale forum, or are you clicking the marketplace tab? The reason I ask is that if you are shopping in the marketplace tab, you will see all posts in all sale forums including sponsor sale forums. The filter works if you are shopping in just the live goods or dry goods forum (and I believe should work in the marketplace tab but only to filter out sponsor threads in the general marketplace forums... not the sponsor specific forums). The marketplace tab shows everything that is in our marketplace feed which includes all sales around the site (general market forums, sponsor live and dry goods forums, and individual sponsor forums).

Even with the 'Opt out' box checked, Reef by Steele still has his half dozen threads showing up and clogging up the subforum at any given time. SIX threads all selling the exact. same. thing.

That needs addressed maybe?

Yes! this is the thing, Opted out but still every other for sale post is still by him.

Also, I initially click on market tab, from there click on livegoods forum.

I actually discovered there is an ignore button, which prevents me from seeing any threads by him, so Im happy. Although still, it appears the "opt out" is not working how it is supposed to, or Reef by steele was given a pass LOL

There appears to be a technical issue of some kind on some of the sponsor posts. We are working on fixing it so that the opt out works as it should.

I can see at least some of them don't even have the sponsor tag, either.

Use the ignore feature for goodness sakes. Kids waking up right now in ICUs after a bad day on a battlefield somewhere... and somehow one vendor has you two stressed and upset. Relax, look down, take stock of your situation and be happy you have a reef tank :)

If he is breaking the rules, then I am sure that the management will handle it as they see fit... This site has fewer ads, and those ads are less invasive than any other modern forum or communication medium I have ever seen. I don't see what the uproar is about.
