New Surf Growth

I purchased a SURF model about 4 weeks ago and have seen no algae growth. I have the lights on 12 hours a day and have the black cloth over half of the compartment. In addition, I am using the suggested air pump (Whisper AP300).

Do you have any suggestions on getting the SURF to grow algae?

Should be at least 18 hours light, 24 hours bubbles. Get a photo of the white area in regular white light with the shade removed.
