Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. My tank is 2yrs old. Running LED's. Placed center of tank on a nice rock. Indirect flow very gentle. Mantel moves a tiny bit.

Yea that's a perfect size, it doesn't need any supplemental good at that size plus when they get they size they become extremely hardy

Clam looks great , that size doesnt need any direct feeding, gets what it needs from the water column and the light

I think it's normal for this sweet piece to open only that much, it needs more time to feel at home. Did you make sure that there's no pyramid snails on its bottom...
Happy reefing!

Went over it with a magnifying glass-lol. Seems very content in that spot. Not sure if it's attached or not as I don't want to bother it.

Great looking clam. I have one that has the same color. I wouldnt bother it. Once they start getting big they wont attach anyway.

Nana that is perfectly fine for a clam to take its sweet and easy time to open fully so I would not worry at all. One thing I would love for you to do is wait for about a hour after the lights have been out and shine a flashlight at it and closely inspect it for pyramid snails, look real good they can be extremely small, do this for the next couple of days to make sure cause looking at it once you can miss it. I have had them many times and its not a problem to get rid of them especially on a small clam. Your clam is gorgeous and I just want you to be able to enjoy it for many years.

Ok just got done inspecting for p-snails using a magnifying glass. No snails! However the Clam has attached itself to the rock, good thing or no?
This is my second time owning a clam. My first one lasted 2yrs. It was a T. Crocea. Broke my heart when I lost it. Has taken me 2yrs to work up to getting another.

Maximas vary wildly how much they open. Was it open more before you got it?

Very good it attached! If not happy they won't attach or will detach and move.
