Looking to build my next aquarium but never built one this big. Looking to do a 72x16x16 using 1/2 glass. Because it's only 16in deep I'm not going to euro brace it and was wondering if any braces were needed at all? Was also considering one 5in wide piece to go in the middle made with 1/2 but again not 100% sure if it's needed considering how shallow it is. Thoughts?

I think 72 inches without a center brace is asking for trouble.

I currently have a 48x12x12. I want something slightly longer and a few inches deeper/taller. But was considering 72x12x12. Considering the cost difference though between 12 and 16 I figured bigger is better.

Your going to need center bracing on the tank.

Would one brace, 5in wide dead center, using 1/2 glass for it, be enough? Or would you go wider?
