Hey everyone. New to reefing and upgrading my 36 gal bow front to 90 gal with a sump. It is a bottom drilled glass tank. I want to do some work on it before I set up like resealing the edges with silicone and replace the overflow weir as it was partially damaged. Not going to lie, a little bit intimidated but here we are :face-in-clouds: once I finish repairing the stand, and the supplies arrive for the tank, I will start that adventure. Tank will be set with my current live rock (established only 8 months), some extra dry rock, special grade caribsea sand. I plan to have a euphyllia dominant mixed reef as I currently have in my 36 gal. I’m trying to take it step at a time but I will probably end up getting a hydros control, fleece roller, and skimmer.

Current equipment I have
Lights: 3 AI prime 16, 3 aquaSD
Flow: AI orbit 4, Nero 3, and two other off brand flow makers
Return pump: jecod pump (might upgrade too)

Happy reefing everyone!

congrats on the new system, excited to see you progress! Document and take pics of the tank re-sealing process if you can, we don't have enough of that kind of footage in my opinion.

Thank you! Here are some pre photos. I’ll post the stand when I finish painting it. Repaired the board on bottom that was damaged and getting a fresh coat of black paint and sealant.

Update: here are photos of the stand coming along. I should be working on the tank soon. Received the new acrylic overflow weir Tuesday so I’m getting excited/nervous to replace that and reseal.

Interested in thoughts on equipment. I know I want good filtering equipment so I plan to get a reef mat 500 and still window shopping for a good skimmer. Im not sure if I should get a UVC. What equipment would you cut corners on?

Would also love everyone’s opinion on controllers, hydros vs Neptune. I’ve been interested in the hydros launch which I’m hoping to eventually add the maven to.

Tank is on the stand finally, removed broken weir and excess silicone in preparation for resealing. Tank is getting a thorough cleaning between today and tomorrow.

Bad news for me. Just discovered termite droppings in the stand, after repainting and sealing and placing that heavy *** tank on it. I will not have help to remove the tank/stand for weeks. I’m going to put some fipronil foam in the crevices of the stand in hopes that I can kill them without it spreading to my home, if it already hasn’t. If I have to fumigate and tent the home, that will stop any progression into the build. :crying-face:
