So I will soon be upgrading a from a 40 aio to 140 Planet Aquarium tank, and will be purchasing a trigger 34 sump and was wondering what heater would be best for this sump size? Preferably one that has a controller.

Also since I will be moving up in the reef world, what size surge protector does everyone use in order to have some many things plugged in? I will have 2 outlet available to me once the tank is placed in the area of the room.

rule of thumb is 3 watts per gallon in that tank size. I'd get two 300-350 watt heaters. You can get dumb titanium heaters and get independent controllers (there are many on the market - inkbird, ranco) or get a heater with a built in controller. I don't have any recommendations for the latter. Sounds like you aren't using an aquarium controller?
