Had much success with fish tanks over the years even saltwater, cant get nitrites to drop and getting light green algae. Algae is on Glass but wipes right off

The algae on the glass is a good sign. Unless you have something eating it, that is normal for a healthy tank.

As for Nitrites, unless they are 20+ppm stop testing. Every time you want to test them, test a nice cold beer instead. You will be happier! :D

Chlorides in salt water block nitrites from being absorbed into marine fish. There are also many things in marine aquariums that will cause a false positive reading. ;Bookworm

That is a bit extreme. Cutting back on the lighting should help.
