Hi
My tank has just turned 3 months (360L/9XGl DT)
I went through diatoms which disappeared and some VERY short haired green algae took over. Some diatoms seems to have come back lately.
It is not a major issue and I'm sure it's not bothering any corals, but completely covers the dry rock, and diatoms is mostly on sand and glass.
So far been using RO water with TDS of 2-3, but getting my big resin filter tomorrow or monday.
Have about 6 'tectus?' snails, 2 nassarius sp. and a sandsifting seastar as CUC.
NO3: 1ppm
PO4: 0.01ppm
My thoughts and plan:
1. Do lots of filtration, wet skimming etc.
2. Clean substrate and glass, with weekly waterchanges, maybe more if needed.
3. Add more snails / CUC
4. Maybe cut back on light hours
5. Have patience, and see what the resin filter and time will do over the next few weeks.
Any other advise, or something I should or shouldn't do?
