Started a new 13.5 Evo build and I’m right in the middle of the diatom stage. I went with @Reef By Steele and picked up one of the most diverse copepod mixes I could find.

Everything arrived alive and on time, thankfully! After temp acclimating them and adding them to the tank, I immediately saw tons of activity—pods swimming through the water column and crawling all over the glass and rockwork.

I’m going to document how well they establish and how much of a difference they make with the diatoms. I’ll post before-and-after pictures at the one-week and two-week marks so we can actually see the progression.

Thanks @Reef By Steele ! So far, these little guys are absolutely everywhere.

Thanks for the shout out. We love hearing this from our customers. Good luck with the new setup. Never hesitate to reach out if you have questions. Been reefing since the 80’s. No expert but tons of real life experience.

To maximize reproduction and colonization, dosing live phytoplankton will greatly help. Our Coral Delight is packed with diatoms (lol not the ones that create the uglies) and will speed the process of getting through this stage as they will compete with the nuisance diatoms for the silicate required to grow their cell walls.

That’s incredibly smart I didn’t think of that! I was wondering if the dosing of them would throw off my extremely volatile tank given it’s only about eleven or twelve gallons of water I was going to dose about five mils of the phyto tonight and hope it doesn’t raise anything through the roof thank you for the feedback!
