Welcome aboard!!! Yes, you can seed with a piece of live rock... I would recommend Coralline in a Bottle, that stuff is great. It's packed fresh before being shipped and, aside from the algae spores, it contains nitrifying bacteria as well; and the strains they use aren't commonly found in other products, so it helps to build bacteriological diversity.
