New to saltwater..

Set up Bio cube 32 with Dr Tims One and only.. as directed I used all 4 oz's..
Water readings as follows..
salinity 1.025
Ph 8- 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrites .50
Nitrates 10
Thesereadings have been the same since January 30th...

What can be done to reduce the Nitrite level ??...

Nitrite is not something that needs to be tested once the cycle is complete. Given you have no ammonia and nitrate present means your cycle has been completed. Once this occurs you probably won't need to ever test ammonia or nitrite again. I'd keep the ammonia test though for hospital/quarantine tank purposes.

I agree with the above. I never test nitrite, even when I was cycling. Time and your biome adapting will make it drop.

I bought a nitrate test kit the day I put up my first tank. It's still sitting in the cabinet unopened. If you don't have a phosphate kit, you should get one. High phosphates can cause an algae outbreak. Zero phosphates and 0 nitrates can result in Dinos, which are often a real nightmare. On the subject of algae, make sure you check new frags for algae and remove it. Neglecting to do that caused me to get bryopsis in the tank. Try not to get too stressed out when things don't go quite right in the future, because that is definitely going to happen at times. Now have fun!!

Hi Doug and Welcome! Glad you joined. If Nitrite doesn't drop, suspect test kit is giving bad reading... I'd consider you cycled, but if you want to be extra cautious (not needed in my opinion) wait an extra week to consider yourself cycled. In that extra week of adding bits of ammonia that should continue to give no readings, your nitrates should climb. Do a water change whenever you consider yourself cycled (now or later). FYI 10 nitrate in FOWLR is great reading - wouldn't do water change just for that reason...

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state.
