About 4 years ago my better half got me a 38g bow front. Had it for the whole time running fine as a fw. About 6 months ago I started researching and talking about converting. Well last week she said just do it already, and here I am. Saturday was out with old(some to a buddy and some to the lfs). And here we are day 5.

for what it's worth, your wasting money by buying equipment now and then just ditching it to get different equipment later. I would really consider just getting a drilled 90 gal or 75 gal add a sump and build it right from the get go! Pay once Cry once!

That has gone through my head. Renting and looking at buying a house in about a year. I figure this is a good test run for me. And I'll have stuff for a back up if needed

*Welcome to the forum!* You may be able to find some suggestions for a decent external protein skimmer in the equipment forum.Good luck with your new system!
