Hi, I had a successful 180 plus a 30 add on (both using same sump) and it was a great hit in my school for kids with social/ emotional disabilities. It recently got a crack in the bottom, so I have drained it and given away all my livestock. I joined the forum because I am thinking about starting a new reef here at the school. I am thinking that checking out this forum might help me decide whether or not I have the energy to take the plunge again with a new tank for my school!

I think it's great! Every kid that comes in my house goes straight to one of the tanks. Good for you! Dive in.

Jimmy Fallon Hello GIF

Welcome to reef2reef. The main reason I got back into the hobby again was for my son who is on the spectrum. He loves gazing into the tank, checking on the fish, making sure they are eating, listing their names to anyone that comes in our house, and loves talking about it when people ask if he has any pets. one of the biggest hits at his ABA school with the kids, was the addition of a fish tank. I love the idea of having one in school. The benefits are endless. so many teachable moments to connect with kids in a real way, especially those with social and emotional difficulties. Even when problems come up with the tank, cuz we all know they do, it can be a great way to connect and come up with problem solving skills to help overcome the issues. Excited to have you here!
