Hello Everyone!

I'm new to the group and pretty new to owning a "real" fish tank. I have a fresh water 37 gallon tank. I just started setting the tank up. I added water, gravel plants and conditioner. I'm seeing different answers to if I can add my fish (1) to the tank after 24 hours. It's a gold fish about 5.5 inches long. Eventually I want to aded some other compatible tank mates.

Any advice as to how long I should wait to add my firs fish and more later on?

Thanks!

Welcome! Glad you joined. Freshwater is more forgiving than salt, goldfish are pretty tough freshwater fish. Just go slow adding more fish because you want your ammonia > nitrite > nitrate cycle to be going well (no ammonia and nitrate removal with weekly water changes).

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This is a good SALTWATER reference book type online article I still review:
