Hello I am setting up a new tank and this is my order of operations, please tell me what I can do to increase my chances of success.

I have a 60 gallon sump and 7 stage RODI

1. Fill with salt water, add nitrifying bacteria Ammonia feeds them. No Light! Until cycle is complete

Ammonia will spike, then go to zero, nitrite will spike, then when nitrite is zero cycle is complete

2. After cycling, add copepods and feed them with phytoplankton, after adding them you want light to increase their numbers as they eat diatoms and bad stuff

3. Add fish and alge eating bois.

4. Start reefugium it maintains phosphate and nitrate

5. Add Coraline alge, calcium and alkalinity to encourage coral growth

Ph-at least 8 go for 8.3
Calcium 440
Alkalinity at least 9
Magnesium 1350
Nitrate 2-5
Phosphate .1 - .2
Salinity:35 on the right
78° f

Slowly start your cuc. It's easy to overstock than they starve.

Watch your alk and calcium. You prob won't have to doese for a while. Simple water changes prob will be all that is needed for a bit. Once you start to see coraline growth start testing cal and alk

Gha isn't the most feared algea in a reef. Most will have it at some points. Algea growth is something that naturally will happen.
