I have a nano 15 saltwater tank, that I’m wondering is it time to starting dosing? The tank is almost 7 months old. For the last month I have been noticing that my ph, calcium and alk have consistently been dropping Week after week even with weekly 3 gallon (even when I did 5 gallon) WC. I’m using RC for salt mix, before the coral was add I tested my Alk to see my starting point and it was testing around 10 with 3 zoa frags 1st added. Then slowly adding more coral over the last few months.

Im not chasing any tank perfect numbers but my Corals were looking much better in early April. I’m thinking my coral is eating up the calcium and need some supplements especially my candycane and torch ( it’s seems to be very unhappy or looking to split.)

Coral stock:
3 zoa frags
2 sinularia leather
1 candy cane
1 torch

Tanks test levels
Water Temperature 79-80 (high Home Depot tomorrow for a fan)
calcium is 360-380 Was testing around 420
Alk 7.9. Was testing around 9.7
Ph 7.0-7.3 Was testing around 8.0
rite 0 Same
Rate 20 Same
Amn 0 Same

Today I picked up some Kent marine Products:
Superbuffer-dkh
liquid calcium
From my understanding these Products could increase my alk, PH and calcium but in a good or bad way, all depending on usage and proper measurements. Not sure if I got the right things either

tomorrow I’m picking up a small fan for these hot days Before I start dosing this stuff to make sure temp issue isn’t causing any problems in the tank. I’ll also be opening more windows in the room the tank is in again but that didn’t fix the issues last week.

Any suggestions or recommendations dosing would be new to me and if the tank doesn’t need it yet my pockets can wait. Ty

Alkalinity (7.9) is no cathastrophe. Calcium much more problematic. pH - probably a measurement error. If it 7 - you should have no calcium problems. What are you using for tests?

Sincerely Lasse

Thank you for replying for testing I’m using Hanna for Alk, API for calcium and ph test. I also had a friend test calcium with Red Sea test last week and my calcium will not stay above 380. Alk I’m not really worried about but I know they work together.

I think it is time to dose calcium and alkalinity, but may not be needed daily. Might only be once or twice a week at first.
I’m thinking the same thing but just not sure if I got the right things for low dosing a few times a weeks. I’m hearing mix reviews about Kent
especially superbuffer Dhk. But when I think about my issues it makes sense to use because my issues are so minor in away.
