Niger Trigger

So I just got a new trigger fish, it's in the QT right now. Should I worry about 4 peppermint shrimp and 1 cleaner shrimp currently in the tank that the trigger will go into after staying in the QT?

Nigers have a gentle reputation ... as triggers go ... but I think with triggers, you always have some risk to arthropods. Pepps tend to be pretty nocturnal, and cleaners get _some_ leeway due to being cleaners, so that should work in your - or the shrimp's - favor. That having been said, I've never kept a niger with shrimp.

I've got a blue-jaw trigger that I plan to put into my own tank. As reef-safe as their reputation is, I'm still not _entirely_ confident that my cleaners, peppermints and blood shrimp are 100% safe. Not sure I'm even 50% on the sexy shrimp . . .

At the local public Aquarium, the dive team who perform a daily program in the shark tank respect the sharks, but don't worry too much about them. They're much more alert around the gray triggerfish - those guys bite pretty hard!

Thanks for the info. My LFS guy said it's one of the few triggers to get that easy to take care of.

It's a toss up but I would say it's a matter of if not when, the peppermint become lunch. It may be weeks it may be years. The cleaner is probably safe.
