Nikon D40

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the Nikon D40?

I own a d80 and a coworker owns a d40...what would you like to know?

I was just wondering if you like the camera and if it seemed to take good reef tank photos.

I LOVE the d80!!!! My buddy's d40, to my knowlege, is mechanically the same. The differences are in the size of the lcd screen in the back, and some other features. But, from what I understand, they are the same otherwise.

the d80 has a max of 10.2 MegaPixels and not sure of the d40 ( I'm assuming it would be slightly smaller ).

You can't go wrong with Nikon. It's really what's behind the viewfinder that makes the great shots. ;) I think the quality of the reef tank shots are superb. I need to convert some of mine to an acceptable format/size to post but you can' trust me when I say they are magnificent. :D

I like Nikons, but I also love my Canon! All in all for good shots I feel that it's all in the lens! Canon or Nikon, get a good lens...

My lens are worth more than my Canon body...

I used to hear that and not understand it. Now I do.

And that realization comes quick... I just spent double what I spent on the camera body and kit lens. Only getting one lens and a bunch of other stuff. Isn't it amazing how when you think you spend too much in one hobby, you end up spending a lot more to enhance that main hobby by starting a second hobby:). At least I've got my wife involved in photography, too. I'll likely be getting a new macro soon, too (gotta try the other lens out first when it gets here).
