Hey guys I have got a new female spotted mandarin and just got it eating frozen but alot of its fins have been either damaged or nipped from when it was at the LFS. So im wondering what can I do to make sure that the fins grow back and it stays healthy? anything I can add that is reef safe>?

Nipped fins should grow back on their own provided it was aggression damage and the fish has a healthy diet and pristine water conditions.

If the fin damage is from something disease related like flukes (commonly causes fin deterioration) then action may be necessary.

Something to keep in mind, because of the way mandarins kind of scoot around the rocks and substrate, their fins often look a little “rough” on the edges. My female’s fins are usually like this, and she is quite healthy.
