So my two angels started to get a liking for my SPS. I have them both out now, but just curious if there is anything I should do or can do to help those frags they picked on to heal up? My cherry bomb looks like all the polyps were ripped out (still flesh on the frag though), and some of my others look like the tips have been chewed on. They are all frags right now. If they were colonies I would just snip and move on, but being they are all under an inch or two I am hoping it’s bit too late. Side note, don’t trust angels. Lol

I moved the cherry bomb down in the tank earlier because I think it needed more time acclimating to my lights anyway. Everything else I will let me and hope for the best. Thank you! Another side question, how long do you all light acclimate your sps for?

Do you have any pics of what it looks like ? I have a flame angel which started nipping wondering if they can cause so much damage to the skin

I’ll try to get one tomorrow when the lights come back on. Basically looks like the flesh isn’t as full, chips taken out of it, and the edges are not as sharp. Plus, I saw both of them nipping at my new frags. One went out and then the other moved in on the territory and went to town. Now both are out and hopefully the corals will recover. I am doing aminos right now from Brightwell. I did Acropower before and didn’t notice much of a difference, but maybe I will give it another shot.

No I wouldn't switch if you like the brightwell stuff keep using it I was only saying acropower if you were not using any at all. Aminos help with tissue growth thats why I suggested them.

I have a Cherry Bomb frag that has gone thru some rough times. Patches of polyps "disappeared" for a couple of weeks but eventually all came back (suggesting they were probably just retracted, not dead).....so hopefully this will be encouraging.

What kind of angels did the nipping? (just curious)

Thanks for the encouragement! I hope that’s the case. I’ll update tomorrow and the next day if they wind up coming back out. I had an Emporer and a Majestic in the tank. It is a 300 gal DD. I thought they’d be good once I had colonies growing, but after two mass extinction events in my tank, all I have are frags right now. Lol. So they can’t take the nipping like a full blown colony could. They were smaller angels, but just developed their taste quick!

Gotcha. Yeah, I have seen pretty good results so far in my other tank with that stuff. I appreciate the help!

I like to alternate amino acids thinking that most likely no particular brand is perfect (and has ALL the essential amino acids in the right proportions, whatever that combo might be). So by using more than one brand, one might make up for something the other one is missing and vice versa. I alternate days with KZ AA and Acropower.

That’s not a bad thought. I’m using the Red Sea AB+ coral food as well. However, Acropower is cheap enough to add to the mix and alternate in as well.

Here are some pics. Forgive my old iPhone 7 pictures. Lol the Cherry bomb is hard to get a picture of but the rims where the polyps extend from are chewed on or really rough looking. The yellow hibachi frag on the top rock has its tips chewed on as well. (First pic) My RMF Bubbleyum is receding from the bottom. Not really sure why though. Maybe from picking at the base, maybe water parameters. Last I checked my N03 was around 5-6ppm and PO4 was around 14 ppb. Lights have been cut by 50% to start acclimating that frag rack.

The pics aren’t the best , do you see the rims that house the polyps kinda missing flesh ?
