I would value some recommendations on how to control nitrate level in my 125 gallon reef tank. I set-up the tank about 18 months ago and controlled the nitrate level using a vodka\vinegar formula I got online consisting of 375 ml vodka, 500 ml vinegar and 125 ml RO water per liter. The level was close to zero until about 6 months ago when it started to go up until it is 40 ppm now. The slowly increased the dosage from 12 ml per day to now at 20 ml per, but the nitrate level is still high. My PO4 is at 0.30 ppm which I control using GFO.

Any suggestions?

I run a biopellet reactor and it works too good, my nitrates are non detect so I’m adjusting by slowing the flow and taking out some biopellets a little at a time. Hoping to find the sweet spot where it maintains a low level.
