Hello,
I need too get my nitrates down as they are at around 150 right now.. my question is should I try to start dosing no pox and do weekly water changes while dosing?

Are you sure your nitrates are at 150? What kind of filtration are using? Refugium etc. I wouldn’t jump right into a chemical solution without following the trend and finding out what is causing the extreme nitrate levels. Did something die in there etc. My recommendation would be, start with some larger water changes.

Nothing wrong with that approach, though it seems its effectiveness goes up paired with a skimmer from what I read.

Also note that you'll likely be lowering phosphate at the same time.

That's the plan actually. Gonna do 30 gallon water changes here when I'm home. My nitrates are around 150-110 somewhere in that region. I have a skimmer, Remora Pro 2012.

This is the 65g tank? Does it have an overflow or is it just hang on the back filtration I am assuming? There are a bunch of HOB style refugiums you can get. With those high numbers of nitrates have you measured phosphate? Keep doing weekly water changes and try and get a refugium with a grow light. Then you could grow chaeto etc. That will eat up nitrates. Also once the chaeto starts growing you will need to manually remove the overgrowth. Also leave about a golfball size and throw the rest away.

The plan is to switch over to sump in December actually. This is the 65g sorry. No overflow yet, Tidal 110.

Unsure.. last time I checked it was at .21

If you have a decent skimmer it may not be a bad option. If not maybe look at a algae bed.

Adding carbon causes bacteria to bloom (taking up nitrate in the process) and indeed if you dose too much of a carbon source, the resulting bacterial bloom can deplete the system of oxygen quickly, which could potentially result in fish losses. But that said, carbon dosing is a popular option for reducing nitrate, I do it, and many other R2R members do it. If you follow Miami Reef's guide I linked above, I believe it's reasonably safe. You can dose it manually or even set up a doing pump to do it automatically. Just a suggestion.

You could also try something like an algae turf scrubber or adding macro algae to your system.

I've personally not used NoPox, but I believe it's a popular choice too

AFAIK NO-POx is the original carbon dosing product.....don't know what it's exact blend is, but it seems "about like the rest", maybe better. Causing a bacteria bloom isn't exactly rocket science, after all. ;)

Im 15 so I don't have that much time for water changes.. tank has had a lot of issues in the past.

FYI, be very careful about bottoming out your PO4 levels trying to deal with this nitrate. Keep in mind that it might not really be a problem that you need to deal with directly, as long a the tank is back in balance overall.
