So, with the new tank up and running I’m experiencing the convenience of having an ATO with reservoir. Only issue is that it’s about 5 gallons and my RODI water station is in the basement. I’ve been used to topping off with little 1 gallon jugs used to carry RODI. I don’t feel like going up and down the basement stairs multiple times to top off my fresh water. I needed an easy solution and I didn’t feel like pouring the 5 gallon bucket into the reservoir and making a mess of splashing water.

I took a 5 gallon bucket and lid from your favorite big box home improvement store and power head from an old tank. I’m using the imagitarium brand from Petco. I used the mount that cane with it and assisted the suction cups with silicone.

I cut a small slit in the side of the bucket for the cord to feed through and siliconed that also. With a large enough hole in the lid, I fed some clear hose through and attached to the power head.

Lastly, I purchased an in-line switch for $3 and put it in the power cord.

Now, I can fill up the bucket in one trip, plug it in, get the hose set and flip the switch. Once full, switch off and put away. No spill. Super quick. Cheap. I would guesstimate the cost of this project to be $20 if you needed to purchase everything.
