No sump Filter

Hi.

I have a 120 gallon tank here and i cant use sump system.
I have a canister sunsun hw 3000 too, that i will use to filter the system.

My question is: I will need a Hang on Skymmer to help the system works? If yes, give me a suggestion, please.
One more question: In the canister i have 4 layer. Can someone that use canister system give me a sugestion of what to put on it layer?
