Just acquired a plate coral and upon placing into the tank there is a solid ring around the flesh. Is this normal? I don’t remember my other plate doing this. I do remember my previous one having its mouth open for a few hours once added so not worried about that part.

Exposed skeleton is never a positive sign really imo. Lets unpack this though, how long has it been in your tank? Is your tank established? Could be as simple as it adjusting to its new home.

I guess it’s not skeleton. Still has a slight purple hue to it. Have been told it’s normal for them to act like this after shipping.

Been in the tank about 5 hrs now. Tanks about 1yr 2 months old. I would consider tank established but I did just do a deep clean a few weeks ago but still see plenty of micro life in the tank.

It’s looking much better now but still not 100% tentacles are out and mouth is closed.

Just adjusting, give it a few days. Probably fine.
