This has been a frustrating journey so far but not ready to give up yet. Got a bunch of acans during black friday sales. Don’t have a good rock for them, I’ll probably have to make my own rock to display these coral. I wish there was like a log shaped rock with a flat top or something similar to really have a bold display to both showcase and allow room for growout. For now I’ve just jam packed them onto this random little arch rock I got a while ago. Hopefully they’ll all grow out into nice chunky mini colonies and then I’ll transfer to their forever rock when I find/make one. Spent like an hour putting all my acan frags on fresh plugs and glueing to this rock tonight. We’ll see how it looks when the lights come on tomorrow!

Nice😎👍. That's a whole lot of acans! I really love acans, even though i dont have any. I used to but that was a long time ago and it did die. I do have a micromussa, not sure if considered acan. But, anyways, good luck.

Let chaos reign! I think this may work out well as a temporary solution. Seem to have given enough room to each frag to grow out on their plugs a bit. This little arch rock also allowed for staggered heights and has holes to allow flow to actually come up underneath the coral a bit. I think it looks kind of beautiful tbh, chaotic beautiful anyways lol. Still, since these things grow so slowly, I’ll have time to find the perfect forever rock for them.

Thought I bought another branching frogspawn (paradivisa) for my little garden… nope it’s an huge wall frogspawn (divisa) lol. Looks really cool but took a lot of space in my little nano tank 🥴

Those are some amazing corals to add to your tank!

Thanks yeah I got quite fascinated with them. Mostly acan/micro lords but also a handful of the “micro” amakusensis varieties too! So satisfying when they are puffy and extending their feeder tentacles. Also the subtle variations in their sizes and coloring!

Thanks! Hope it looks cooler as the newer frags grow out into mini colonies!

Looks very nice! For future readers and reference, ocean wonders makes a frag rock. They come in different sizes and colors. But the premise is the same - a frag holder that looks like a rock. I had one cooking but never got to put it to use before shutting down the tank. Was planning to move my zoas to it to make fragging zoas easier.

That could be good for zoas or even these micromussa but I think you’d need to have your flow dialed in to accomodate it well? As you can see in my first photo in this thread, I’m using a small arch rock that has negative space / holes in its design. I believe the arch shape provides a good way to stagger height and the holes in the arch allow for flow to go throughout. With these micromussa I’ve found that detritus can settle easily without appropriate flow. This (probably) temporary setup isn’t allowing any detritus to settle on a single frag. Not sure if that oceanwonder rock would work as well.

Even with feeder tentacles out all day, they aren’t collecting detritus :)

New bowerbanki did NOT appreciate the hydrogen peroxide dip! Thought I’d take some pics after the dip to show (hopefully) recovery progress. All the h202 bubbles that form under/around the flesh have disappeared after about 4 hours but it looks like those bubbles literally ripped the flesh apart which I haven’t seen happen when dipping other coral in hydrogen peroxide. It looked like the bubbles formed under the flesh and then the bower had to tear its flesh to release them oof! Hopefully it’s a quick recovery because I love the colors on this piece!

I never do any kind of dips on my corals fearing that unexpected things like this might happen.

By the way. I did similar with a bunch of Micromussa (Acans) and started to have to separate them as they got bigger and started crowding each other out. No real warfare, just some grew a bit faster or robustly.

Yeah that’s what I’m expecting to happening I don’t find a bigger rock for them. Do you have any pictures of how yours looked after growing/crowding out?

This a spread of about 6 months, and as you can see grew at different rates

I mean… that looks awesome! I probably need to give a little more room between all my frags to at least let some mini colonies grow out like yours though.

~20 hours update on the bowerbanki post h202:

- took a flashlight it he tank last night and the peppermint shrimp were all over this thing. Thought it was over and they were feasting.

- today everything looks about the same, the shrimp were probably just cleaning anything that died along the edges thankfully!

- some slight improvement and some slight worsening. The mesenterial filaments are still everywhere, seem to have increased around the mouths. Maybe slight decrease of filaments around the polyps edges, and some color returning.

- overall, things don’t seem much worse than yesterday so I think we’re heading in the right direction and I feel optimistic all will be fine.

- I’ve dipped lots of other coral in hydrogen peroxide and never seen such a violent reaction before, maybe the bower was still too new and adapting and I dipped too soon before it could settle in and fully acclimate.

Not dipping is how you get stuff like AEFW or zoa eating spiders…
