I used to love the way my tank looked. Now I look at it and am not impressed. I don't like the look of my corals on the rocks and starting to not like the placement of anything as well. To get back to liking the looks of your tank, what are some things you do or have done? Did you re-scape with big rocks? How do you accommodate for corals that don't play nice?
Just curious what others have gone through.

I actually removed a few corals recently... put them in a grow out tank. Gave it a fresh look!

I think a scape is never finished and you have to have a a new challenge once in a while.
when your frags grow out to big pieces and you have to start to cut them the nice shape usualy is gone and i think it's time then to put something new instead.
The same here with my tank.
The upper leftside had 3 big stylo's and the shape was not nice anymore ...

My picasso is constantly knocking things over looking for goodies (I'm bare bottom) so I'm always rescaping.
Keeps the fish interested, helps with any territorial disputes and keeps me interested as well.
Also never know what you will find under a rock. ;)

I wouldn't hesitate to move things. Even only being 6months in so far I've already redone my rockscape 3 times.

It’s very similar to landscaping. I am always trading out perennials and shrubs, especially when new hybrids or new colors are cultivated. I think of a reef tank the same way. There’s always that new torch or new mushroom available, and the old corals have outgrown the tank or the shape doesn’t fit as well as it once had. It is always a work in progress.

I obsessed for à week using the golden ratio overlayed onto pics of my scape until I had it exactly where I wanted it. After that, over the past two years, it was just adding frags, moving frags and trimming. Some corals and clippings were re-homed.
